I posted this on my social channels yesterday and wanted to take a break from my normal blog post to share it here with you as well…. More of my journal coming soon.
This week, the scooter shop had a major piece of equipment fail. We called in an expert to check it out and advise us. Upon inspection of the equipment in our service department, he walked into the showroom to talk to me. I was standing behind the sales counter when he and his co-worker hit me with the bad news…
“It’s going to be a little over $2,000 to repair.”
He was right. This was bad news.
As I stood there for a moment and pondered what to do, he looked down at my desk and saw this railroad nail laying in front of my keyboard. He said, “Why do you have a railroad nail sitting there? Is it a paperweight or something?”
My answer?…
“It’s to serve as a reminder that Jesus was nailed to a cross with something similar. That He died for me and for my sins. It reminds me that there is no greater love. It helps me keep perspective. When problems arise, when I’m faced with trials, when it’s easy to get frustrated because a piece of valuable equipment fails and will cost $2,000 to fix… it reminds me that in the end, it doesn’t even matter. This nail keeps me grounded and reminds me of what is truly important in life… Jesus.”
I don’t think he expected that answer. Maybe God used the moment to plant a seed in him and his coworker. For me, it was certainly the reminder I needed in the moment.
John 3:16 NIV - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
A fitting verse for March, 16th. Jesus died for you. He loves you. Ask him to reveal himself to you. Ask him into your life. Repent of your sins and surrender everything to him. It will be the greatest decision of your life.
God bless you.
Since today is 3/17, why not reflect on John 3:17 as well…
John 3:17 NIV For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
